Substance Abuse Counseling Minor
Program Description
The minor in substance abuse counseling focuses on developing the basic competencies associated with helping people recover from substance use disorders. Courses provide students with content knowledge of the bio-psychosocial factors relevant for providing counseling to alcohol and substance abuse clients. Theories regarding etiology and the treatment and relapse process, and development of skills needed to provide individual and group counseling for addicted populations are also included in the courses in this minor.
