Outdoor Leader Minor
Program Description
The Outdoor Leader minor is designed to prepare students who are interesting in leading people in a variety of outdoor pursuits. These pursuits would range from basic water based recreation; canoeing/kayaking to land based experiences such as back country hiking and backpacking. The student would also become involved in other more technical nature based outdoor recreation activities such as; x-country skiing, climbing and rappelling, and expedition planning and leading. The student will acquire basic skills relative to navigation (GPS, map and compass), they will complete the Wilderness First Responder course (WFR), they will complete 4 of 5 activity courses specific to basic outdoor pursuits, and they will assist in the management/administration/leadership of two of these courses.
