An introductory course designed to develop the four basic language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language as well as the acquisition of basic Chinese grammar and vocabulary. A communicative approach based on real-life situations. Revelant Chinese cultural aspects discussed. English used as necessary in classroom instruction.
CHIN 152 First Year Chinese II 4 Credit Hours (4,0)
Further development of basic language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing with a strong emphasis on speaking and reading fluency. Relevant cultural aspects briefly discussed and the target language used progressively in instruction when it fits.

CHIN 251 Second Year Chinese I 4 Credit Hours (3,0)
An intermediate-level course aiming at expanding the learner's ability to communicate in everyday life situations in the target language. Continued focus on language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing as well as further development of vocabulary knowledge and consolidation of grammatical knowledge. Social and cultural norms and conventions discussed when appropriate. Communicative approach used in instruction.

CHIN 252 Second Year Chinese II 4 Credit Hours (4,0)
