Special Education Learning Disabilities Minor
Program Description
The Special Education Learning Disabilities Minor prepares people to work with students with learning disabilities in grades K-12. The minor may be paired with an education program to pursue the learning disabilities special education endorsement on a teaching certificate, taken as a stand-alone program for current teachers to add the learning disabilities special education endorsement to an existing teaching certificate, or taken as a stand-alone minor for students who are not following a teaching career pathway, but want to know about working with students with special needs in any setting.

Students must earn a grade of C or higher in each course. Education courses require a grade of B- or higher. A minimum gpa of 2.700 or higher is required for this minor.

Students earning the endorsement will complete directed teaching in conjunction with major endorsement. The first 8 weeks of the 14-week directed teaching experience will be completed in a special education classroom and the remainder of the experience will be completed in a classroom within the grade band(s) or content area(s).
